Every year, my dad would create a new card to send out to family and friends to wish them good tidings for the new year. It was particularly wonderful opening up cards from his artist friends, who would also send handmade greetings.
From hand-painting each card, to making block prints, each year the cards would have a different look and feel. One year he even used the computer to design the image.
When I was young, I remember him including me in this project. He’d give me my own linoleum block to carve, and then together we would make prints using an assortment of colors. Sometimes, he’d let us use sparkles or paint to add accents to the cards.
Here are some of my favorites.
From our family to yours – wishing you all the best this holiday season, and a very happy new year!
These are such beautiful images! I'm thinking limited edition holiday greetings! Thank you for sharing these - it truly shows the far-reaching scope of your father's talents.
