Harold Lehman was a professional painter and sculptor his entire adult life. Since his death, Mr. Lehman's artwork and role in American art continues to be recognized and exhibited in major in major exhibits.

We are proude to announce the upcoming exhibt at related to Post Surrealism as well as the work and relationship he had with the Mexican muralist D.A. Siqueiros.

In 1935, Lehman was instrumental in organizing the "Experimental Workshop" in New York with D.A. Siqueiros, the famous Mexican mural painter.

He is a past member of the National Society of Mural Painters, The Woodstock Artists Association, The United American Artists, and The United Scenic Artists.

He has exhibited extensively in museums and galleries throughout the United States. Exhibitions include:

Recent exhibits include:
  • 2005, Surrealism USA. Harold's painting Portrait of a Dancer Plus a Sculptor appeared in the the National Academy of Design's major 2005 exhibition on surrealism in the United States. The show opened in New York in Feb. 2005 and traveled to the Phoenix Art Museum from June to September 2005.
  • 2005, War Bond Era Posters, California State University, Chico, California. As part of the College of Humanities and Fine Art theme "War and Culture" curator Catherine Sullivan of the Janet Turner Print Museum located on the campus, invited Mr. Lehman to exhibit the Paratrooper. March 21-April 18, 2005.
  • 2002, Pasadena Museum of California Art. Mr. Lehman was invited to participate in curator Michael Duncan's Post Surrealist exhibit that debuted in the new Pasadena Museum of California Art. The exhibit was from October 2002 to January 2003 and also toured to the Nora Eccles Museum of Art, Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
  • 1995, "Pacific Dreams: California Surrealists - 1930's". Mr. Lehman was a prominent member of the Post-Surrealists, an avant-garde group of California artists, active in the 1930's. In 1995, three of Mr. Lehman's paintings were included in a retrospective exhibit of this group. The tour went to the following museums:
